They say “imitation is the most sincere form of flattery,” but more often than not, imitation just leaves us questioning the designer—really? It happens a lot, and sometimes the new guy actually does it better than the O.G. So often that these instances of “imitation” have us asking “Who did it better?” each week.
Bape continues its legacy of re-working classics into their own creations, this time using the Converse Chuck Taylor as their canvas. The Chucks are time-honored and have a strong following including Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi. But who wins? Has Bape fixed what wasn’t broken? Or was Converse the 1st and the best?
